Best Myrtle Beach Date Night Ideas for New Parents

You've just brought home your new baby. Life is going to be exhausting for a while (ok the next 18 years)! Don't let this stage in life leave your marriage on hold. You can still date your spouse even if you're elbow deep in bottles and diapers. Here are some of my favorite date night ideas in Myrtle Beach for those with newborns. Scroll down to read more:

1. Go for a sunset stroll on the beach.

This may seem like an obvious choice for some, but maybe not for others. One of the best things about living in Myrtle Beach? The weather. If you've been lucky enough to have your baby during the spring or fall months, this is a great time of year to get out and enjoy the beach while it's not too hot, and tourists are mostly gone. Just make sure it's a sunny, non-windy day. How do you do this with a newborn? Get a baby wrap or carrier. Check local boutiques like The Kangaroo Pouch for this essential.

2. Brookgreen Gardens.

Don't feel like dipping your toes in the sand? Pack the stroller and head to Brookgreen Gardens, and be sure to bring your camera! For a daytime date, take a lunch and you can have a picnic, or go to the lovely little restaurant on the grounds. During the holidays you can go to Night of a Thousand Candles (be sure and reserve tickets early, it always sells out). This is a pretty huge event and you might want to jump to number 4 before tacking this with baby in tow. Brookgreen is one of the most beautiful places in the world! What a treat to have such an amazing place to visit locally, and take your baby (or not)!

3. Ripley's Aquarium. Myrtle Beach Ripley's Aquarium was a place I started taking my first-born as a new mom and quickly became a favorite for us during the off season. We sometimes went on dates with my husband, and some mornings it was just the two of us. He loved looking at the fish even as a tiny baby. The music is so calming and watching the ocean life, so peaceful. These are wonderful memories I will cherish with him forever. The aquarium offers a local's discount. If you plan to go often, as I did, get the membership. Worth it!

4. Get a babysitter and go anywhere! I totally understand that this can be challenging for a myriad of reasons. Maybe you're like me and no grandparents live close-by. Maybe you've just moved to the area and don't really know anyone. I get it. But it's important to get out there and become part of the community so that you can find people to lean on (and let them lean on you). Local moms groups such as MOPS Myrtle Beach, can be helpful in connecting with other moms and finding resources for babysitting and other needs. Once you've found someone you trust, getting out of the house for an hour or two once a week will be amazing for keeping your sanity when you've nursed, fed and changed your newborn all day! Church is also one of the absolute best ways to find community, and Myrtle Beach is full of great churches like Midtown Vineyard, Ocean View Baptist and Myrtle Beach First Presbyterian. If you're new to the area, I encourage you to hop in one of these places of worship on a Sunday and see if one of them resonates with you. This can also be considered a date on Sunday mornings!
